MLB Memorabilia Original MLB Art and Prints – One of baseball?ÇÖs last remaining links to its past, Fenway Park still brings fans to the game as it was in the early 1900?ÇÖs. With its unusual configurations and the proximity of the stands to the players, the park serves as an intimate connection with the fans their beloved team. Here we see the park shortly after it opened in 1912, the same week that the Titanic sunk on its maiden voyage. In its early years, the Park saw great teams consistently play important games. In fact, the Boston Braves played their home World Series games there in 1914, because it sat more fans than their stadium. Ironically, the next year, the Sox won the American League Pennant and played their home World Series games at the just completed Braves Field, about one mile away. The reason? It sat more fans!.

MLB Memorabilia Original MLB Art and Prints – Probably the most popular stadium in the history of baseball is the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Ebbets Field. Located on the site of an old garbage dump, in the pig town section of Brooklyn, the ball park provided the fans with an intimate look at their local heroes. The right field wall had all sorts of bends and twists, which created havoc as outfielders tried to read caroms off the wall. The scoreboard actually added other bends and twists and more problems for outfielders. A local clothier promised a suit to any player that would hit his bill board. Ebbets Field housed rabid, loyal fans that loved their Dodgers, and loved baseball. The fandom created nicknames that would live on in the lore of baseball. Stan ?Ç£The Man?Ç¥ Musual. Dixie Walker, ?Ç£the People?ÇÖs Cherce?Ç¥, Paul and Lloyd Waner, ?Ç£Big Poison and Little Poison?Ç¥, Carl Erskine ?Ç£Oisk?Ç¥. Sadly, the team abandoned Brooklyn in 1957, only two years removed from winning the World Series for the first time. Ebbets Field stood for two more years, hosting an occasional soccer game. In February 1960, the stadium fell under the spell of a wrecking ball, and now a housing complex stands on the site. To fans of this team, the demolition of Ebbets Field was like a death in the family, and the pain still hurts some fifty years later…

MLB Memorabilia Original MLB Art and Prints – ??The House the Ruth Built?? opened for business in 1923. After sharing the Polo Grounds with the Giants, the Yankees were evicted by Giants Manager, John McGraw for many reasons, but none more so than the popularity of its team and its star player, Babe Ruth. The Yankees were out drawing their landlords, and the Giants had had enough. The Yankees built their own stadium in the South Bronx, right across the Harlem River from the Polo Grounds, in part so their former landlords could see their majestic new baseball palace every day they reported to work. Yankee Stadium has become a shrine for baseball fans, and has seen some of the greatest players and teams ever..

MLB Memorabilia Original MLB Art and Prints – The 1970?ÇÖs brought a huge revival to the great baseball rivalry between the Red Sox and the Yankees. Both teams were rising from the ashes of years of mediocrity and were buoyed by their young all star catchers, both American League Rookie of the Year award winners, New York?ÇÖs Thurman Munson (1970) and Boston?ÇÖs Carlton Fisk (1972). The spirit and fire of this rivalry seemed to be embodied in the competitiveness in these two determined backstops. Their grit and passion seemed to energize their teammates and fans. Many a game between these two teams were spiked with an edge that made it seem at any moment the dugouts would empty and there would be a full fledged free-for-all on the field. Here we see a moment in the Bronx. It looks like Fisk has just taken a pitch that was a little to close for his liking. Having said something to counterpart, Munson removes his mask and glares back, almost inviting him to come at him. In the background, we see Yankee manager, Billy Martin. Never a stranger to ball field fisticuffs, Martin seems to be enjoying the sight of these two warriors standing up to each other..

MLB Memorabilia Original MLB Art and Prints – Tiger Stadium has stood on the Corner of Michigan and Trumbull in Detroit since 1912. The stadium was originally named Nevin Field for the owner of the team at the time it was built, and then Briggs Stadium, for a subsequent owner. Finally, in 1961, it was given the name that it will be forever recognized as: ??Tiger Stadium??. Many of the games greatest players have called this famous park home, including: Ty Cobb, Hank Greenberg, and Al Kaline. Babe Ruth hit the 700th homer of his career at this stadium. It was the home field to the last 30 game winner in the majors, Denny McLain. Known for upper deck seats and cozy home run distances in left and right field and its cavernous center field, the park will be a lasting memory to the people of the motor city. The Tigers moved to a new park in 2000, and after several years of indecision, it appears that the park will be demolished in 2008, taking generations of memories along with it..

MLB Memorabilia Original MLB Art and Prints – Ferguson Jenkins made his Major League debut on September 10, 1965 at Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia. He allowed only two hits in 4.1 innings of shutout relief to earn a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in a game started by two future Hall of Famers, Bob Gibson and Jim Bunning. This short relief outing of a late season game between two second division teams was the springboard to a magnificent career that landed Fergie along side the two starters of his first ever game, in Baseball?ÇÖs Hall of Fame. Early the following season, Jenkins was shipped to the Chicago Cubs in a 4 player deal that helped turn the fortunes for the Cubbies. Starting in 1967, Fergie won 20 or more games for six straight seasons. Perhaps his finest year was 1971, when he captured the National League Cy Young award. Fergie?ÇÖs career milestones include 284 victories and over 3000 strikeouts..

MLB Memorabilia Original MLB Art and Prints – We met in the Winter of 2004 at a mutual friend?ÇÖs wedding. During the festivities, we began talking about our great-grandfathers, Josh Gibson and Babe Ruth. Immediately, we connected with each other, given the significance of our relatives in the baseball and home run world. Over time, we stayed in touch and became friends. During subsequent conversations, we started sharing our thoughts with each other about the possible ?Ç£what-ifs?Ç¥ had Josh and Babe had the chance to meet and interact together, since there is no known record of these two baseball greats having ever crossed paths in person..
